How do I rent a camera?
Open the item, pick your dates and you will see whether it is available and the full price. Press to book, sign in (or create a free account), do a one-time ID check before your first rental, and pay online.
Do I collect the gear or do you deliver?
Either. Collect it in Braamfontein, Johannesburg, or we deliver within 100 km at R11 per km (minimum R150). The delivery fee is shown before you pay.
Booking & Scheduling
How far ahead must I book gear?
At least 2 days before the day you want it, so we can check and pack it. The calendar only offers dates you can book.
Can I cancel a gear booking?
Yes. The hire charge is refunded by how much notice you give (2 days or more before: 100%; 1 day or more before: 50%; less than 1 day before: 0%). The deposit is always refunded in full when you cancel.
Pricing & Payments
What is the deposit and when do I get it back?
Each item has a refundable security deposit, a fixed amount shown on the item before you book. We check the gear when it comes back and refund the deposit, less any damage or late-return charges. The details are on our Refunds page.
Are prices including VAT?
Gear prices include VAT. Photographer, videographer and editing prices are shown excluding VAT, and 15% VAT is added at checkout. You always see the total before you pay.
Is there a discount for renting several items?
Yes, when you rent them together through the cart: 3 to 4 items: 10% off; 5 to 6 items: 15% off; 7 or more items: 20% off.
Platform & Account
Why do you need my ID, and how long does the check take?
Because the gear is valuable, we check who is renting it once, before your first rental: a photo of your ID and a selfie holding it. No certified copy is needed. A person checks it, usually within one working day, and we email you the result. Your ID images are deleted 30 days after the check.
Creators & Professionals
How do I book a photographer or videographer?
Choose a package on the Studio page, pick the date and place, and pay. You see the price and VAT before you pay. We confirm the photographer with you, and they are paid only after the work is delivered.
